Index of visibility in AI

Does ChatGPT recommend your brand — or your competitor's?

People stopped searching and started asking. IVIA measures what ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini answer when someone looks for what your brand sells — and keeps the answer as evidence.

The problem

The traffic that disappears gives no warning.

Someone asking ChatGPT “which is the best dental clinic in Boston” gets three names and an explanation. Not ten blue links. If your brand is not one of those three names, there was no click to measure — and Analytics cannot show you a visit that never happened.

The drop shows up first in the AI engines and only months later in revenue, by which time nobody knows when it started.

Classic search10 results · measurable click
AI answer3 names · zero clicks

What Analytics sees

A near-flat line. The loss has no shape — which is why nobody raises it in a meeting.

Ten results · three names

The list with ten places collapsed into a sentence with three.

If you're not one of the three, your spot didn't slide down the page. It stopped existing.

How it works

Four steps. The first takes minutes; the rest run on their own.

15 questions × 4 engines

  1. 01

    Describe the brand

Sector, services, competitors, markets, domain. This is where the questions come from — questions a real customer would ask, not keywords.

  2. 02

    Audit the site

Before asking, we check whether the crawlers can read it: robots.txt, structured data, FAQ, titles. There is no point optimising the answer if the door is shut.

  3. 03

    Ask the engines

Every question goes to ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini and Google AI Overview with live search. The literal answer is stored, and that is the evidence.

A site that blocks GPTBot will never be cited.

Every platform measures whether the brand gets cited. None checks whether the site can be read by the crawlers feeding those answers — and you find that out by looking at the site, not at the citations.

Four crawlers knock on the door: GPTBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended and the AI Overview crawler. One block is enough for the spot to go to someone else.

In July 2026 we analysed 97 dental and aesthetic medicine clinics in the Vale do Sousa region, across 18 controlled measurements on ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity.

In real runs the index lives between 11 and 27. Zero is the norm, not the exception.

Frequently asked questions

What people ask before deciding. Missing one? Write to us.

What exactly is the IVIA score?

IVIA stands for Index of Visibility in AI: a 0–100 number summarising whether AI engines mention your brand when someone looks for what it sells. It is not an opinion — it is the sum of dozens of real questions put to four engines, scored by whether the brand comes first, is listed, is merely mentioned, or is absent.

Why does the result change between runs?

Because AI models are not deterministic: the same question can yield different answers hours apart. That is why IVIA measures many questions rather than one, and why the trend over time says more than any single run. Any tool promising a stable number is hiding this from you.

Which engines are measured?

ChatGPT, Perplexity and Gemini, all with live search — the mode a real customer uses. Measuring without search would measure the model's memory, which is a different thing and goes stale.

Do I need to give access to my site?

No. The technical audit reads only what is publicly accessible, exactly as any search engine crawler would. We ask for no credentials, install nothing, and need no access to your Analytics.

Can I deliver reports as my agency's own?

Yes, from the Studio plan up. Set your logo, colours and name, and the PDF comes out as your agency's document. On the Agency and Network plans you can also share results by link, without creating an account for the end client.

Do prices include VAT?

No. All prices exclude VAT. Portuguese companies are charged VAT at the applicable rate; EU companies with a valid VAT number fall under the reverse charge, validated against VIES at sign-up; outside the EU the transaction is outside the scope of Portuguese VAT.

Can I cancel any time?

Yes — right in the app, under Billing, without talking to anyone. There is no lock-in: the subscription stays active until the end of the period already paid for, and you can reactivate it in one click until that date arrives. Annual subscriptions carry a 14-day refund window.

What is founder pricing?

The first 10 agencies pay 30% less for the first year, on any plan. Just enter the code FOUNDER at checkout — the discount applies to every charge in the first 12 months, and the seat limit is enforced by the code itself: once the tenth agency uses it, it stops working.

What happens to my data if I leave?

You keep read access to your history for the life of the subscription and can export reports as PDF at any time. After cancellation, data is deleted on request; absent a request, it is kept only as long as billing obligations require.
